I first released Scheduled Post Shortcut for WordPress almost two years ago (officially, it’ll be two years ago this June but who’s counting, right? 🙂).
It’s one of those really simple plugins that works well for those who schedule content far out and want to easily see how many posts are in their backlog, but not much else.
In short, it’s a plugin designed for people who blog regularly and frequently.
Anyway, I had a notice on the project page in the WordPress Plugin Repository that the plugin had not been tested against the lastest version of WordPress.
So while making sure it was compatible against WordPress 4.9.4, I also brought it up to date with some other standards.
Scheduled Post Shortcut is arguably my least popular plugins. That is, has an extremely low number of downloads based on what few number of analytics I have.
Regardless, it’s one that I use (I mean, I technically wrote it for myself) and there are those who use the plugin if they write with any sort of regularity – whatever that may be for them.
However, it’s been brought to my attention by a number of people who joined up as members that they saw an error message in their dashboard whenever they logged into the site.
No good, right?
So as I head into the holidays, I wanted to get a quick fix for this out as a “thank you” to those who use it and for those who reported the error and who have signed up to join the site.
A couple of weeks ago, an international WordPress-friend of mine, Thorsten Frommnen, tweeted the following asking what WordPress plugins I use (and others use) right now:

For what it’s worth, I don’t know if it’s all that interesting to cover all the plugins that I have running. Admittedly, it’s not many (and no, it’s not because I get into the too-many-plugins-slow-down-a-site-debate), but it’s because I just don’t use that many to run this site.
With that said, here’s a rundown of the WordPress plugins I use, why, and where you can get ’em.
Based on active installs, ratings, and the like, Scheduled Post Shortcut isn’t what you’d call a popular plugin. Far from it, actually. But I’m okay with that.
Remember that when Eric and I first started releasing these plugins, the goal was not only to create small plugins that solved problems we were experiencing as bloggers, but also to do so in a way that made it as simple as possible for others to use in their day-to-day writing.
And since there are problems that he and I still experience, we continue to update the plugin.
Scheduled Post Shortcut for WordPress is officially available in the WordPress Plugin Repository and is the second plugin that’s officially available via Pressware.
A few months ago, Easier Excerpts was a plugin that was released to help make it just a little bit easier to manage excerpts when composing blog posts.
Scheduled Post Shortcut is another plugin that attempts to stay in the same vein of simplicity while also making it easier to streamline the publishing process.
But what does that mean and what’s the story behind the plugin?
