For those who have read this blog for the last few years, you know:

  • I don’t really do retrospective posts for each year,
  • I take the time off for the rest of the year from blogging.

To own dismay, I haven’t blogged regularly this year (but such is life and unforeseen responsibilities 🙂) but the points still remain true.

So as we collectively get ready to end this year (which some people are referring to as 2020, Part 2 🤷🏻‍♂️), here’s to some time offline.

Merry Christmas (Ready for 2022!)

Here’s some of the notable stuff that happened this year:

  • I started working as a Senior Software Developer for Awesome Motive and am very much enjoying the work I’m doing.
  • Last year, I wanted to spend more time working in JavaScript but ended up doing less of that this year and more backend and DevOps related stuff. For that, I’m grateful because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • I read a lot of books this year (and Meghan and I read 14 books with the girls outside of our normal reading this year) my favorite of which was Billy Summers by Stephen King.
  • Last year, I talked about wanting to use some of the new audio gear that I received to record music. Though I didn’t do much of that, I did spend a good amount of time trying to write a few original songs. I have more pieces of songs than full songs but such is “the process,” as they call it.
  • As far as games are concerned, I spent some of my time playing Age of Calamity and the two expansion packs for that. I currently working through the second expansion pack now. Though different in terms of the mechanics, I’ve liked both the story and the game play.
  • I published a few episodes of a podcast corresponding to a series of posts I wrote. That particular series dealt with if I knew then what I know now.
  • Once again, I blogged less than I wanted to but really want to get back to regularly doing so next year. To do that, though, I think I’m going to need to branch out from just WordPress development. There’s only so much I can say about how to do certain things and there’s a lot of stuff I’m doing tangential to the application. I’m not the only one doing so either.

That’s enough for now. I’m looking forward to 2022 and I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a wonderful new year. 🎄✨
