The Pressware Pipeline

Recently, I’ve been asked when I’m planning to bring Mayer to self-hosted WordPress installations.

The short answer is that I don’t have a definitive answer, but I am working on the Pressware shop. The longer answer has more to do with my current backlog of work and the things that I’m trying to accomplish before doing so – that is, it has a lot to do with what’s happening within the Pressware pipeline.

To that end, I thought it might be worth sharing the current plans I have for Mayer, the eCommerce gateway I’m working to setup for Pressware as well as my current theme backlog.

Looking at the Next Version of Dev Practices

For a little over half a year now, I’ve been running (or simply managing, at times) a Tumblr blog called Dev Practices. The whole idea behind the blog is simply this:

A day in the life of a developer as illustrated by GIFs.

But I’ve been surprised. The site’s been a lot of fun to manage, people have been contributing to it, and there’s a backlog of at least a month’s worth of content.

So, like any developer at this point, I’ve started thinking about Dev Practices 2.0 (of course, I should probably come up with a better than than name, right?)

Title Capitalization for WordPress 1.1.2

A couple of weeks ago, I released the first version of Title Capitalization for WordPress. After the first version was released, I received some feedback both in the form of code reviews, issues, and some other minor updates.

In case you missed it, I released 1.1.2 to GitHub on May 4th (because you should always ship something on Star Wars day :).

The Logo for the WordPress Plugin Boilerplate

As discussed earlier last month, the next version of the WordPress Plugin Boilerplate is currently in development.

For those who are interested:

You can find the current stable version on GitHub.
The `develop` branch to which the core team and I are working (though we’re not currently accepting pull requests).
And you can read about the changes in the upcoming version in this previous post.

The foundation of the status of the next version of the Boilerplate currently leaves a lot to be desired, but the team and I – along with the help of Slack (probably a topic for another post ) – are in the process of planning the upcoming website that will accompany the project.

Title Capitalization for WordPress

When it comes to drafting and editing posts, one of the things that I often have to refer to is how to properly capitalize certain headings. I’d figure after this long, I’d actually have all of the rules memorized, but apparently that’s not the case (no pun intended :).

Anyway, in order to help with this, I was using a third-party tool for double-checking proper capitalization of post titles and heading elements. But, over time, that became a bit tedious so I created a small plugin to automatically and properly capitalize post titles and the heading elements of post content.

Stretching myself as creatively as possible, I’ve opted to call the plugin Title Capitalization for WordPress.
