One of the problems of trying to keep up with all of the various news outlets as it relates to WordPress is finding the right sources. I mean, there’s Twitter accounts, blog subscriptions, blog aggregators, podcasts, and so on.

Personally, one of the best blogs that I’ve found for curating content is Post Status – it has a healthy balance of links from around the community, and one person’s commentary on some of the larger issues. A good read for sure!

But one of the things that the WordPress community has been lacking for sometimes is a Hacker News-esque site where stories can be contributed, voted, commented, shared, and so on.

In short, a full on community-driven-and-curated site of WordPress-based content for those who are specifically interested in, well, WordPress.

ManageWP For Community Curated News

Okay, so this is not to be confused with ManageWP.com. Remember, ManageWP is a service that makes it easy to manage multiple WordPress installs. From the site:

Accessing all of your WordPress sites is now a breeze with our intuitive one-click access. Simply click on the WordPress site you want to manage, and you’re instantly logged in and ready to manage. No more passwords!

But ManageWP.org is a completely different beast. Instead:

ManageWP.org is the first dedicated people-powered WordPress community designed to enable you to curate, promote, and vote on the content that matters most to the WordPress community.

At the time of this writing, you can take a look at the site in action:

In short, you do the following:

  • Create an account
  • Submit stories
  • Vote on stories that have been submitted
  • Enjoy the content

Incredibly easy, right?

We’ve seen this model before on other sites such as previous incarnations of Digg, Hacker News, and so on, so it’s nice to see the WordPress niche have a place of its own.

But let’s say you’re a drive by and aren’t interested in necessarily signing up, voting, and all that jazz. Instead, land on the main page and you’ll see the most popular links as voted by the community related to WordPress at the moment.

It’s a really easy way to keep up with the firehose of information that is WordPress.

I, For One, Welcome Our New News Overlords

With sites like A Better Planet, Post Status, and ManageWP.org, it’s becoming a bit easier to keep track of everything that’s going on with WordPress is a curated way, rather than trying to follow every developer, designer, and blogger under the Internet’s proverbial son to know what’s going on.

So here’s to ManageWP – welcome to the fold. I – and I think I speak for most of us in WordPress – are glad you’re here.
