Every now and then I end up having to call a few false starts on projects. Sometimes it’s scheduling, sometimes it’s because I realize that I didn’t do a good enough job coming up with what I wanted to do, and sometimes it’s simply because something else has come up.

Case in point: Pressware Plugins.

If you go back and read the post (which I don’t think is necessary), you’ll see that the goal was simple: To create a better blogging experience.

For me, the challenge was to identify exactly what that’d look like, how the business model would work, and how would it translate for those who are already people who use WordPress but in a variety of capacities.

So I pulled back, re-evaluated, and have been talking with others for quite some time now about refocusing the idea. And thus comes Blogging Plugins.

Introducing Blogging Plugins

The idea behind Blogging Plugins is simple: I still want to create a better blogging experience and do so specifically with WordPress.

The thing that’s different, though, is that this time around I have much more clarity on how I plan to do that and how the business-aspect of it is going to work.

And no, it’s not going to follow the traditional: “Pay for each plugin and get discounts on them for upgrades” model.

I’ll share more about this as the time grows closer, but the point of my sharing information about this today is to:

  1. Finally tease a bit about what it’s going to be about,
  2. Give you the ability to sign up for information (with no obligation) about the site,
  3. And to discuss more about what the types of plugins the site is going to offer.

The first two points are self-explanatory (I think :). But what about the third?

So here’s the thing: Although Pressware works to build custom solutions for others on top of WordPress. This is what makes WordPress as powerful as it is – it’s a blogging platform, a content management system, and an application foundation.

What About Blogging?

But I still use WordPress as a blogging platform (clearly, right?). And I know both from customers, from projects, and simply just looking at the proverbial landscape that others continue to use it as a blogging platform, as well.

The thing is there are things, especially for those who blog with any regularity, that there are things that we could streamline to improve our efforts at drafting posts, publishing posts, and even reviewing past posts.

The list could go on.

And that’s where Blogging Plugins comes into the picture. I want to create a suite of small, useful plugins that have a single purpose and fulfill them well. Further, I want to make sure that each person has access to each plugin and only needs to install the things she or he wants to enhance their workflow.

So if you’re interested, head over to the landing page and sign up. As the site says:

Your email won’t be abused; just used to let you know when we’re ready to go!

Ultimately, there’s nothing to lose and I won’t be spamming you at all. At minimum, I’m looking to keep this page up for a month or so – if you’d be so kind to share it with your friends, followers, or fellow bloggers, that’d be great.

But if not, that’s okay, too. 🙂
