One of the things that I’m most passionate about is helping other people learn how to pursue a career in some aspect of software development or web development.

It’s why I enjoy blogging, chatting with other developers on Twitter, talking with others via email, and sharing code and ideas for the sake of improving my own abilities as well as helping others.

Start the last week of this month, I’ll be partnering with Envato to lead a five-week workshop in which I’ll be teaching how to build a WordPress plugin from the ground up.

How To Build a WordPress Plugin

This couse is aimed at those of you who have some level of experience with WordPress development – maybe you’ve customized a theme, dabbled with an existing plugin, or modified functions.php – but are interested in moving up to the next level.

The course is one hour, one day a week, for five weeks and we’ll be covering the following topics:

  1. Setting Up Our Environment
  2. Planning The Plugin
  3. Building WP IS.GD, Part 1
  4. Building WP IS.GD, Part 2
  5. Preparing The Plugin For Release

Additionally, the course is live so there’s a time for question and answer at the end of each session as well.

If you’re interested in joining, head over to the Envato Live Workshop page and check out the introductory video, course description, lesson plan, and what else you can expect from the course.
